Samtastic! Review: N.A.S.A. "Whachadoin?"

Ok, so. This video makes me feel nostalgic for Pee Wee's Playhouse for some reason, the video is awesome, the song is just ok...something about these "collaborations" lately is bugging me, this song has M.I.A., Santigold, Spank Rock and Nick Zinner, etc. forever...seriously? Did we need all of those peeps?

Samtatic! Review: Amy Winehouse singing and acting normal?

Ok, this makes me very excited, it's Amy Winehouse performing with the Specials at the V Festival...SHE ACTUALLY SINGS and sounds normal and gets through the performance. She's still got the crazy eyes, but I think that's just normal for her. She looks good and has got a little swagger back, maybe this will be the beginning of a real comeback?

If she can keep this up I might actually gain some respect back for her...

Samtastic! Review: NY Post interview with Elly Jackson

This is an interview with Elly Jackson by the NY Post, I think this interviewer is a lame ass...but I love Elly and LaRoux, so I am posting it anyway. Can't journalists and interviewers come up with some better questions?

Samtastic! Review: Jay-Z, Kanye and Princess Boring

Oh, and Kanye, this too., the song is just ok, we know you have issues with ego, and you know, Princess RiRi is just kind of BORING, and such and obvious gimmick (even Beyonce is somehow more interestng than RiRi), are you =
"lost touch with reality, now my personality, is an unwanted commodity..." - De La Soul

And you know I love Jay-Z...BUT

AND Kanye is GOOD on this for the whole 1 minute of it he is on the track...BUT

Why does everyone LOVE and want to FUCK RIRI? It's not that RiRi is boring, it's that she is so obviously told what to do...and that she might be insane! The Chris Brown thing turns me OFF to her, fucking tell that guy he is a fucking douche bag ass hole cock sucker muther fucker and seriously BE A WOMAN. Is she that "YOUNG at heart" that she can't see that?

Samtastic! Review: Drake "Killers"

Ok, so this is so HARD trying to be Kanye, and isn't even close... which is funny and sad that he promotes this shit...Seriously Kanye?, I heart you to deaf, but this guy sucks...

Samtastic! Review: These are my FREE words...

The previous post to this one was about a leaked Radiohead song called "These Are My Twisted Words". If you'd like to, you can download it for free here:

And it's legit, because it's compliments of the band. They are always one step ahead.

Samtastic! Review: Radiohead new leaked song

So, last week it came out the Thom Yorke and his bandmates were so exhausted by In Rainbows, that they weren't going to do an album right now. But lately it seems like a new song comes out or gets "leaked" every other week! Here is "These are my twisted words" by Radiohead.

Samtastic! Review: Like no other...

My friend Doug posted this, but I felt compelled to post it too. Marvin Gaye had the most perfect and clear voice, what a genius. This is rom Marvin Gaye's Real Thing: In Performance 1964-1981 DVD video which was taken from the long out-of-circulation 1973 concert film "Save the Children", recorded live at Save the Children concert, Chicago, Illinois on September 27, 1972. I think I need to get this film too.

Samtastic! Review: MTV EXIT & UNICEF use the Killers

This is, in my opinion, a bizarre matchup of song and message. The video is artfully done, but could be confusing if you didn't know what it was about. Would you call this a PSA? It's sort of glossy, drawn out and vague.

Samtastic! Review: Amanda Blank MIght Like You Better

This will probably be a HUGE single, but I am still on the fence. There is a real video for this too that just came out, but I haven't found it yet. There is something annoying about this, not enough rap to make it GREAT and not enough of a song to really get into it. I guess that is why it will only be popular in night clubs where a bunch of drunk girls are being drunk and dancing on tables waiting for prince charming to take them home?...I feel like the original is already a chopped up mash up remix from hell...but it's not 100% horrible, I will have to see what her other songs sound like, if they end up being songs or not.

Amanda Blank, Might Like You Better.

Samtastic! Review: Yeasayer get haircuts

Yeasayer seem to have collectively gotten new hairdo's, changed their lineup some, and are performing this new song that I don't know the name of...if you figure it out, tell the guy who posted this on Youtube he would appreciate it, and me...I am not so patiently awaiting their new album...I am very impatient.

Samtastic! Review: Do I like Amanda Blank?

Do I like Amanda Blank, I am kind of on the fence, we may have even hung out...or at least have been in the same place at the same time. She mentions the 700 club (I used to go there every thursday for "funk" night and dance) and Diplo and Low Budget and Hollertronix...which is in the past, but do I like her or not? Maybe if she talked less, or at least wigged out less? She is cute and talented can't deny that, she's got a new record, she is from Philly or should I say Germantown to be more exact...you decide.

Samtastic! Review: Lost Boyz All Righ

Skip the first 10 secs of this video, I am not promoting anything, just wanted to post this song.

I think this is one of the greatest hip-hop songs ever. Living in the suburbs in NJ I had no business listening to a song like this and having any clue what it was about, but I loved it...so here it is,The Lost Boyz "All Righ", I think most of these dudes have passed on by now, but the Lost Boyz were really good.

Samtastic! Review: Tori Amos performing - Silent All These Years (Live at 89.3 The Current)

So, I really love this Minneapolis Radio station called 89.3 The Current, they film these awesome in house shows, and post them on Youtube for the world to see. I might actually donate money to them, that is how much I care...

Anyway, in honor of "Shark Week" (see Tori's teeth?) which America seems to be obsessed with, and also because my friend Tammy loves Tori, I am posting this song. I have fond memories of this song from about 10 years ago. And I believe this song is much older than that, so I guess we can call it a "classic". This performance is pretty nice, she might be a little distracted, or crazy...but it's still nice.

Samtastic! Review: LaRoux performing I'm Not Your Toy at the iTunes Festival

I would have loved to have gone to the iTunes festival, but here is LaRoux performing "I'm Not Your Toy". The stage is really nice, she looks awesome, sounds good, looks like a good time.

Samtastic! Review: LaRoux performing In for the Kill for NME

Yeah! So I finally got the album LaRoux by LaRoux last week, and have been listening to it constantly since then...It is a VERY good Pop record, some highlights of songs are the obvious "In for the Kill", "Fascination" and "Bulletproof" but I also LOVE "I'm Not Your Toy", "Reflections Are Protections" and "As If By Magic". Really the whole album is wonderful, and the songs together are great as a listening experience. I think this group will be around for awhile, and I think it will change and evolve. Pop music is not a guilty pleasure anymore when there are groups like this, it's just a pleasure.
