Samtastic! Review: Merz

I think I am a very late to the party on this guy, Merz, but better late than never...here is the video for Lotus, something about his voice and music makes me feel good, but I can't quite put my finger on why?

Cobra Starship, and Blair Waldorf...I mean Leighton Meester, yeah I know...but I heard this months ago and liked it then, so here it is, a summer anthem...Good Girls Gone Bad, not too original, just FUN.

Samtastic! Review: Daniel Martin Moore

Wow, my friend Doug just turned me onto this video, but I plan on checking this guy out more. Name is Daniel Martin Moore, on SubPop Records, beautiful wonderful voice...check out this video:

Samtastic! Review: Explosions AND Flaming Lips!

A message from Explosions In The Sky that is absolutely awesome, I will be at one of these shows no doubt:

Hello Everyone,

We are extremely excited to announce that in August we will be going on tour with The Flaming Lips. This is a bit of a dream come true for us and we're still sort of shocked that this is actually going to happen. We started the band in 1999 and we spent a lot of time hanging out together and listening to The Soft Bulletin (which remains one our favorite albums of all time), Anyway, we will be joining them in Denver, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Boston. Please go to the shows page at www.explosionsinthesky.com to find out all the details.

We'll also be helping to celebrate the tenth birthday of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival. This will be happening in the UK from December 11th through December 13th. You can find out more at www.atpfestival.com.

Also, we will be playing in Portland, Oregon on September 17th with our good friend Eluvium. We haven't played in Portland in a couple of years so we hope to see some of you there.

Thanks for caring.

Love,
Explosions

Samtastic! Review: Solid Gold "Who you gonna run to?"

Wow, I was sort of mesmerized watching this band play. They are called Solid Gold, from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sort of trippy pop rock or something, I hate labelling things anymore, just check them out. Their other songs are worth a listen too:

Samtastic! Review: Happy Birthday by Stevie Wonder

In my life it's birthday season, lots of my favorite people have birthday's this time of year! INCLUDING ME! So, in honor of my birthday tomorrow I wanted to post this sort of silly song "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder...it's from 1980, I was born in 1981, and have loved Stevie since probably 1984!

Enjoy.

Samtastic! Review: Phish, Sparkle

Ah, they look so young...it's summer now which always makes me want to hear Phish, and be outside and I heard this song earlier, felt like posting it...Sparkle by Phish, happy go lucky lyrics.

Samtastic! Review: INXS "Never Let You Go"

Apparently I have had this song for awhile, and had no idea how good it was. I guess this is INXS with the newish lead singer J.D. Fortune...I am digging this song though.

Samtastic! Review: Skream's remix of La Roux "In for the Kill"

This is a pretty f'in nice remix, sexy, slower...original below again for comparison:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ1Mi77nogQ

I posted it before, but it might be disabled now...

Samtastic! Review: La Roux Bulletproof remix

La Roux is my new girl, love her, think she rocks and is going to give GaGa a run for her money. This is a pretty good remix, it doesn't mess too much with the vocals, but my 9 yr. old friend Emma is into it, so I am posting it!

I pre-ordered this album from the UK, and I won't have it until 7/15? or later, so pissed, but maybe if it comes out on iTunes I will just download it anyway. Don't think I can wait that long.

Samtastic! Review: The Man's got skills

This is awesome!

Samtastic! Review: Black Eyed Peas

I am going to get so much shit for this...these videos are so fun though, and the songs are too! Andy and I started on the Boom Boom Pow kick in Poland, and the video is really really kick ass!

Samtastic! Review: Grizzly Bear

I think this band is pretty creative, this video is kind of creepy, that's why I am posting it. I like the vocals it's very 80's and 90's alternative. Here is a video for "Two Weeks".

Samtastic! Review: Tom Waits has a nice voice

Tom Waits, genius, his voice is how I feel today.

Samtastic! Review: Banksy in Bristol

This looks phenomenal, so creative, the animatronics are super creepy and weird...and this is free? in the USA this would cost a lot, maybe I will just go to the UK to see it? PS. I think the Peace Officer is Banksy himself, but it's hard to tell if it is a real human or not, I just love the fact that the public doesn't know who he is...

Samtastic! Review: Kings of Convenience back

Picture 2, originally uploaded by thisgirlnamedsam.

I didn't actually receive this in the mail, or have anything to do with it... this is their mailing list letter to fans! I just wanted to post it because they are coming back soon!

Samtastic! Review: Adele Hometown Glory LIVE

Adele, my new love, want to hang with her so bad...these 20 year olds with so much talent make me feel old and talentless like Madonna (that one was for Walid).

A live version of my fave song by her Hometown Glory!

Samtastic! Review: Killers video for Dustland Fairytale

Killer's Video for Dustland Fairytale:

http://perezhilton.com/tv/index.php?ptvid=a91de443b59bf

Couldn't find it anywhere else yet, will re-post if I do!
It's a pretty video, fairly literal they are obsessed with this kind of imagery and so am I.

Samtastic! Review: Dark was the night...

Yeasayer also has posted this:

June 9th...Yeasayer tour news and updates!!!
Yesterday at 11:36pmello Everyone.

We have been somewhat quiet on our end but we are slowwwwly crawling out of our shells here at camp Yeasayer.

Odds and Ends:

There has been some Yeasayer blips rolling out there if you are a web traveler. Please allow me to point out highlights:

1. Yeasayer's outstanding track "Tightrope" is featured on the AIDS benefit CD called Dark Was the Night which is out now on 4AD. They also did a down home version of the track that was caught on video here:

http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/episode/118-dark-was-the-night

On the right is a list for "next up"...click Yeasayer here.

2. Chris Keating and Ira Wolf Tuton appeared on the new Bat For Lashes album laying down beats and some bass whips for a few songs. Check out the two jams "Daniel" and "Pearl's Dream."

3. Chris Keating also appears on the new Simian Mobile Disco album due out this August. The track Chris cowrote will be the lead single and is called "Audacity of Huge." It is a tongue in cheek jingle dance jam that can be found around the internet now.

4. Anand Wilder is still working on his musical titled Break Line which features members of MGMT, Man Man, Dirty Projectors, Yeasayer, and more.

Yeasayer announce shows!

NOW, on to what we originally came here for, Yeasayer on tour. The band hasn't played since December, so it will have been over six months since the band graced the stage.

The big news will be additional members to the live show to fill out the sound. The band has been practicing for over a month putting in the hours as they perfect the new line up. Lancaster will be the inaugural gig.

Please check the tour dates (some w/ Ponytail!) as we add more and expect a big fall announcement for a tour somewhere in Europe.

Samtastic! Review: It's almost summer, time for some Biggie

It's almost SUMMER!

Samtastic! Review: BEST dance song ever ever ever

This video is a little creepy, but plays the real version of the BEST dance song of all time...in my opinion of course...I don't get sick of it, love to dance to it, and I don't care what anyone says! If there was one song I could see him perform, it would be this song.

Samtastic! Review: 2nd best dance song ever...

2nd greatest 2am song of all time, it's unbeatably good at getting me to dance!

Samtastic! Review: Aretha, "Don't Play That Song For Me"

Ahhhh, I love her so much, she is truely the best...here is another fave of mine...it's an Aretha kind of day!

Samtastic! Review: Aretha the goddess

This might be my favorite song EVER...Aretha singing "Without The One You Love" live on the album Aretha Sings the Blues.

Samtastic! Review: Yeasayer working on album, soon, maybe please?

There might be a crappy commercial in front of this, I apologize, free costs money I guess...Yeasayer working on an album? That makes me super happy...bring it on.

Samtastic! Review: best song ever, or quite close

I have probably posted this before, although maybe not, thinking about home and people and places and home always reminds me of this song and vice versa...like that run-on sentence? Well, anyway, this is one of the best songs EVER written. And here is the Talking Heads "This must be the place"...

Samtastic! Review: NEW Kings of Convenience soon, I think

New album by Kings of Convenience is coming so, I can feel it, and it says so on their myspace...this band is so so good, and chill! I can't wait.

Samtastic Review: Kanye's Paranoid Video w/ Rihanna

KANYE WEST "PARANOID" feat: RIHANNA Dir: NABIL from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

Kanye West's video for Paranoid featuring Rihanna, directed by Nabil Elderkin

This is soooooooo good, entertaining, reminds me of film noir from the forties mixed with a tribute to Thriller? So so so good, this is not the first video by Nabil, check him out, I think he is amazing.

HA HA HA HAH HA HA HAAHA...these kids seem super cool, I would love to hang with them, plus the music rocks...young, dance, hot love music...June 29th is the release of the debut album I believe, I will be on top of buying that one, unless anyone would like to give it to me as a slightly late birthday present?
